Pledges Are Another Commitment To Excellence For Midland Tennis Your pledges for the Paul Oreffice Outdoor Tennis Complex are rolling in from “Friends of Tennis,” and our Operating Board, members and employees. The response is impressive. As we approach the half way mark toward our goal of raising $200,000 for this magnificent $1.2-million tennis environment, it’s an exciting time and a wonderful opportunity for the Midland Community Tennis Center.   To date 116 individual contributors have donated $85,601 to this spectacular endeavor named for our friend Paul Oreffice, founder of the Midland Community Tennis Center. The project will make a significant difference in our community and state, region and nation as yet another innovative dimension for the growth of tennis in the community voted the Best Tennis Town in the US. Although our fund drive will continue through the project’s conclusion, it’s clearly time to say how much we appreciate all those who’ve stepped up with their pledge and those who plan to contribute.  Understanding the importance of pledging, employees are donating at a record level, while member contributions are gathering momentum. “ Friends of Tennis” are stepping up. And the Operating Board is on board. The project will benefit families and friends, guests and newcomers with new clay courts, resurfaced hard courts, special QuickStart courts, and beautiful new viewing areas. The courts will be dressed in new US Open royal blue trimmed in green. What we have done well for the Midland Community Tennis Center and the cause of tennis, we have done together with amazing results---I urge you to support this incredible outdoor tennis environment for everyone. There are a variety of options for your tax-deductible contribution, including spreading the pledge over three years, simple delayed payment or prompt response. Mike Woody Contributors To Date July 22, 2010   Marquee Dates Worth Keeping   July 31 & August 1, High School Singles & Doubles Showdown   School players are invited to tune up and compete as the Fall tennis season approaches, good test for boys and girls to get experience, build game and participate in school-MCTC event.  August 13-14 Junior Dog days Tournament Always popular, expect juniors from the region to display their game for ranking, experience and bragging rights.    August 20, Friday, The Third Running Of The Popular Margarita Mixer   Let the good times roll with tennis and endless margaritas from 7-9 p.m., featuring Mexican appetizers, snacks, munchies and alternative refreshments. Your hosts are Talaya Schilb and Ryan Boyer. Also expect some MCTC Pros to be on hand to play with members and guests. Cost is $25 per person.   Sign up deadline is Thursday, August 19 at 12-Noon—call 631-6151 or try reservations@midlandtennis.com.    August 28, Adult Summer Slam   Members and guests are cordially invited to attend this special event that features mix doubles play, munchies, prizes and tennis in these divisions: 6.0 Combined Mixed Doubles; 7.0 Combined Mixed Doubles; 8.0 Combined Mixed Doubles; Open Combined Mixed Doubles and the Century Division. Mixed Doubles. Cost is $35 per member and $45 for non-members. Everyone gets a free t-shirt.   Your hosts are Ryan Boyer and Talaya Schilb.
