Alyvia Again!

Midland’s Alyvia Jones, 11, won her 5th national girls’12 championship at the USTA Regional Coral Gables Invitational in Florida, raising to 15 the number of national titles won since 2008 by juniors in the Tennis Academy, Midland Community Tennis Center.

The youngster and partner Elysia Bolton, Lake Forest, Illinois, took the doubles title, defeating  Melissa  Plambeck, Brandenton, Florida, and Amanda Anisimova, Hallandale Beach, Florida, 8-6. Jones also reached the singles finals, winning five matches, before falling to Anisimova, 6-2,7-5. Jones finished last year ranked 14 in the nation and #3 in the Midwest.
 

Play a League of Your Own
Current league action concludes January 29th, with a new session January 30-April 22, so make your plans for action in one of the toughest competitive venues in The House.  We can help you organize a League or hook you up with one.  A self-scheduling League is always an option.

Power Up!

That's the exciting tennis fans can expect February 5-12. 2012, when the 24th running of the Dow Corning Tennis Classic presents another year of women's pro tennis in the USTA's Best Tennis Town.

Over 15,000 fans are expected to see the grit and the glam of today's power game played by young stars rising and cool vets dodging bullets. The eight-day tennis festival features a qualifying tournament February 5-6. The Go To Transport Wild Card Challenge for collegians, amateurs, teaching pros and anyone else seized by ambition will be January 27-29.

The award-winning Midland Community Tennis Center is the host. Prize money of $100,000 makes the event the most lucrative on the 90-stop USTA Pro Circuit Tour. In less than a year, these top athletes are hitting the hall harder if such a thing is possible. Make your plans for mid-Winter's top sporting event, the only pro tennis in Michigan.
